Dear Rayville UMC Family,

May is here as children and teachers count down the days and summer is in sight.  May will also be busy in the life of the church as we start out the month welcoming incoming pastor, Bill McLain this Wednesday, May 2nd.  Bro. Bill, and his wife Lori, will come in Wednesday around noon and Rebecca and I plan to take then to lunch, show them the parsonage and church, and give them a tour of the town of Rayville.  That night at 5:30 p.m. we have reserved the backroom at Big John’s Restaurant and will have a time of welcoming the new pastor with all the church council.  Bro. Bill will spend the night in Rayville and see the McDonald’s Youth Ministry on Thursday morning and then will return to Springhill.  I have had the opportunity to talk to Bro. Bill a lot over the last few weeks and I feel he will be a good fit for the church community and will lead well.

This month, we will also have the sanctuary open for the “National Day of Prayer” on Thursday, June 3rd from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.  On Wednesday, June 9th at 5:30 p.m. we will have a “Parsonage Meeting” as we meet to prepare the parsonage for the pastoral transition.  We will have a “Vacation Bible School Meeting” on Tuesday, May 29th at 5:30 p.m. If you are interested in helping with Vacation Bible School please talk to Shannon Hendershot or Bro. John.  We also have a “Church Council Meeting” on Wednesday, May 30th at 5:30 p.m.  We also are preparing for “Annual Conference” which will be June 6th-9th on the campus of Centenary in Shreveport.   If you are interested in being a delegate for the meetings please talk to Bro. John.  Hope everyone has a great month!

In Christ,

 Bro. John Kavanaugh
